Elizabeth, you're so lucky, yours were nice...well, almost.🙂
Things going missing, a voice like a thought...doors opening, etc etc...they seem to all do the SAME things, do they communicate with each other across the world or what? I've seen and heard some things that were scaaaary!
In Guyana, we call them jumbie...I think in Trinidad too. Jamaicns say duppie. Muslims believe that they're jinns. There are good ones and evil ones.
Fun post! A common but not universal Western view of spiritual vs intellectual does indeed separate them. As if, you must set aside your brain to consider supernatural phenomena. But there are also plenty of people who don’t look at it that way. I appreciate the “practical” perspective that you describe in your family, sort of a no big deal, there’s a ghost. BTW, that panel art is fantastic.
Our current rented flat’s previous tenant was a Hindu who used the house as his informal temple. Forgot to take his guardian deity with him (using proper rituals). Finally had to call on a saikong (Taoist priest) friend to properly cleanse and bless the flat and send the deity on his way. 🫠 Guess our own layman holy water blessing wasn’t enough. 😂
My high school was haunted. If the ghost existed I never saw it, but there were so many sightings from the other students and teachers that the school eventually hired an exorcist! We loved sneaking through the halls at night during theater practice to try to find it. 😊 Thanks for such a fun read!
One time we thought we saw something glowing in the science lab from the outside of the building, but now I'm honestly not sure if I actually saw that or imagined that I saw that because we were creeping around the school at night scaring ourselves with stories about what we might see.
I'm late reading this past the ghost month. I happened to be in Malaysia then and inadvertently we all talked about ghost stories and personal encounters. This ghost story telling seems like a must in this time of the year and so many of us did have some kind of encounters. There were a lot of haunted house stories too!
