Thanks for the suggestions, I try to read something a little new when I can but I'm not good at seeking out things outside my circles.

Hey, thanks for this! Very cool. Anthony Tao in Beijing is very cool, and I never would have found him otherwise. And Substack needs more poetry!

omg these are great!!!! i love digging and finding cultural gems but sometimes they can be hard to find. like for example i managed to stumble across this gold mine chaoyang trap last week (about online culture in china) and have been addicted to reading their backlog of long form posts but too bad they’ve stopped publishing :’)) (link here if you’re interested https://chaoyang.substack.com)

Thanks for letting me know about that Substack! So sad they've stopped writing however, but I have an archive to plunder 😉

Yea the Substacks I shared were very hard to find. Some of them I stumbled on Notes, some by literally going to the bottom of a category and clicking on those that interest me. Oddly I find that by searching for (country) + Substack on Google, I do dig up gems.

oooh i should try that, thanks for the tip! yes i do realise that searching “keyword” + substack on google is better than the search function on substack’s itself… hopefully something we will see improve here in the future !
