BTW, is the English subtitle added by you? You did a great job! I was surprised to see the Hangzhou business in "Blossoms" also starring in this show.

Yea the English subtitles was fone by me 🤭. Is the Hangzhou business fictional? Or a real entity? It'll be fun to see another drama’s “company” here!

Great! You did a really good job with the subtitles! Ooops, I made a typo. It should be the Hangzhou businessman (Dong Yong) in "Shanghai Blossoms", ha ha!

This was really fun to read... perhaps I'm a geek too, without realizing it. I'm glad you found translating subtitles a good way to learn Mandarin. It seems like a very tough process.

Recently I started using an AI tool to transcribe interview materials and to summarize them. I wonder if you can capture the audio part of the video and feed it to an AI transcription tool for Chinese transcription? Does that even exist? Just curious.

I use AI for work a lot! Definitely helps a lot with transcribing. Yes, you can feed audio to AI tool to produce Chinese text. Subtitle edit does this, but it really depends how clear the speaker is, and you know how Chinese accents can be like. I think native Chinese AI applications will be far far better.

I also use AI a lot for work, mostly to summarise my Jira tickets and produce a weekly report. What used to take me an hour or two is now done in minutes. It's pretty great.

I see! You're right about the Chinese accent, compounded by the issue of the actors not delivering their lines clearly at times. I definitely need to rely on subtitles to understand the dialogue.

AI's ability to summarize is astounding. I'm glad it's saving you so much time. Recently I've also discovered how perceptive AI can be when asking it to analyze a text based on the premise that the person is a narcissist. Uncannily accurate! Even better than a therapist!
